Which American colony would you have liked to live in? Explain why?

  1. I would like to live in the colony of New York. I would have liked to live in New York because it was more of a laid back colony. I would not have been able to keep up with the strict religious regulations the puritan societies held. Long Island would have been where i lived because I love water, and there were many cultures located on that island.

  2. If I could choose which of the original thirteen colonies I would live in,I would pick Rhode Island. Out of all the colonies, Rhode Island was the only one that had complete separation of church and state. The colony was, in my opinion, the most religiously and ethnically tolerant of all the English colonies.

  3. I would have liked to live in the colony of Rhode Island. Rhode Island was religiously tolerant, and believed in the seperation of church and state. Rhode Island was also located in New England, so living conditions and life expectancy was better than other colonies.

  4. I would have liked to live in the Louisiana area that the French colonized if I could have, because I love the French culture. All the aspects of the French and there culture seem sophisticated. Whether it's be how they act or how they speak the French have always stood out to me, and that is why I would live in the Louisiana area.

  5. I would have wanted to live in Rhode Island's colony. Their colony was the first colony to have different ethnicities. Also, they practiced religious freedom, which is one of the reasons America separated from England.

  6. I would have liked to live in New Amsterdam, the description of the palce sounds a lot like big cities of today, and I like big cities because they are entertaining. Besides, I don't think I could put up with all the religious obsession of the time. Don't get me wrong, I love God, but I'm not obsessed with him!

  7. If I was an eary settler and sailing to America, I would like to live in the colony, Rhode Island. This colony had a high tolerance to religion. Therefore, they had Jews, Muslims, Catholics, and Protestants living in harmony in one colony.

  8. I would have liked to have lived in the New England colony of early American days. The New England colonies had less disease than most colonies around, so lives were longer. Most residents were able to live long enough to produce a family, which increased the population of the land. I would have liked to live in the New England colony due to the longer lifespan of their residents.

  9. If I could have lived in any colony it would have been New York. The diversities and cultures apparent in New York would allow for an interesting atmosphere. Also, New York, located on Long Island would be hidden from the brutal Indians. New York seems to have a long lifespan and compelling culture that seems to attract all.

  10. I would have liked to live in the Dutch Colony of New Amsterdam, or New York. It was one of the only colonies with a true seperation of church and state as well as ethnic diversity. Unlike the strict Puritan colonies around the New England area, New York had no churches within the walls.

  13. I would prefer to live in the Chesapeake colonies, specifically Maryland. I would want to live in this colony because Maryland was set up as a safe haven, meaning it doesn't matter what religion you believe in, you can still practice there.

  14. I would have LOVED to live in the New
Netherland colony. I would have enjoyed all the freedoms that colony had, over several of the other colonies. The 17 taverns would've been fun too.

  15. I would like to live in Rhode Island because this was the first colony to establish religous tollerance. Religion is an extremely contraversial topic in history; thus,I would rather live in a colony where religios tollerance is prevalent.
